On Stand Sunday, Christians around the world stand for the children and families in foster care. Stand Sunday is an opportunity for our churches to stand and acknowledge our calling as the family of God, responsible for the protection, advocacy and care for the vulnerable children in our local communities.
In Australia, there is around 50,000 children living in foster care. In Queensland, there are over 9000 children. Currently, there are around 5000 foster carers and families. There is a great need for more loving, safe and caring homes for our most vulnerable children.
We have created a new, free pack for you to download on our You Parties website. Each pack contains an informational brochure about Stand Sunday, and how you can organise a Stand Sunday event at your church. It also includes a poster to use for promotion for your event.
This year, we are encouraging churches in QLD to stand with the global movement of churches involved in Stand Sunday,on November 8th. This Sunday also falls on National Child Protection week & QLD Foster & Kinship Carer week.
A Stand Sunday event can look however you want it to.
It can incorporate sermons, prayer, kids’ activities, family celebrations, donation drives, story telling and more. We’ve put together the pack full of ideas, prayers, and next steps for your church to take on as part of your support for children and families in foster care.
Imagine if there were more families waiting for children, than children waiting for families in Queensland?
